Student & Private Groups

Interested in bringing a group to Oaxaca? Interested in deep learning? Let us know!

Student Groups: Oaxaca Profundo Sessions has been proud to host students and study abroad groups from all over the world. We have hosted student university and college groups, from undergraduate to doctorate students to explore the history, culture, food, and myth of Oaxaca. Group sessions inform not only intercultural differences, but also students’ specific study abroad programs, ranging from activism to agriculture to language to indigeneity and design.

Any size of group can be accommodated, however we prefer to break up larger groups over two days or sessions so an intimacy remains. This way students can interact and ask questions more freely. This also sees to it that the group doesn’t feel rushed or herded.

Oaxaca Profundo Sessions also works closely with Universidad de la Tierra Oaxaca for study abroad groups and programs looking for small or large curriculum-based studies. UniTierra Oaxaca is a social justice organization that has been hosting university groups from all over the world for well over a decade. If you think your students or faculty might be interested in organizing a program with UniTierra Oaxaca, please contact us and we can make the proper introductions.

All students receive a 20% discount on our sessions, whether registered individually or as a group.

Private Groups: We are delighted to host individual, private groups that desire their own intimate sessions guided to their personal and intellectual needs. We are happy to consult with you if you have an interest in bringing family, friends, colleagues, or strangers to us. We can help build one-of-a-kind itineraries focused specifically on deep learning and interculturality, food history and practices, regenerative or responsible travel, and much much more.

Our Sessions:

All of our sessions are offered to study abroad groups or private groups:

  • Chocolate & Maize
  • Maguey & Pulque
  • Responsible Travel 101
  • Blood of the Gods
  • Cacao Food Forest Field Trip (2 days)

Questions?

If you have any questions about bringing a study abroad group or your own private group on a session or building a custom itinerary around for your friends, colleagues, or students, please contact us and let us know!

Testimonials

“Oaxaca Profundo Sessions opens your eyes to far more than just chocolate in Mexico. The experience exposes you to thousands of years of indigenous culture and how cacao is integral to that culture. I lead a college class on food culture in Oaxaca and my college students loved the experience and gained a rich understanding into the early role of cacao in Mexico’s culture, religion, and economy. I highly recommend this market seminar”
– Sarah Portnoy
Professor of Spanish, University of Southern California
