Vol 2: Jaguar Chocolate
The Oaxacan Chocolate Club is a monthly gathering of chocolate lovers, exploring the history and culture of chocolate in Oaxaca. Each month, a new theme focuses on a rare or unique aspect of Oaxacan chocolate, and guests will get to come to know, taste, and experience rare types of chocolate, cacao beans, and other chocolate delicacies.
Your tasting guide is “the Chocolate Guy” – Oaxaca Profundo founder Chris Christou. Each month, we explore new worlds and new flavours, each gathering being one of a kind.
The chocolate we sample is always sourced from small-scale, Oaxacan or Mexican chocolate makers who share with Oaxaca Profundo, principles of direct, horizontal, and just trade. Themes include but are not limited to death, ceremony, beverages, water, sacrifice, jaguar chocolate, cacao seeds, the cacao plant, etc.
When: Once a Month (see calendar), 7pm-9pm, Reservations Required
Where: Convivio Oaxaca (Calle Murguia 407, Oaxaca Centro)
How: Tasting. We will be indoors, unless weather permits. Water will be served along with the chocolate tasting. There will be an opportunity for guests to linger afterwards at the Convivio Bar for drinks.
To begin, Oaxaca can be a difficult place for people with severe allergies or dietary restrictions. Therefore, please advise us in advance of any restrictions and we will do our best to accommodate our guests. All chocolate will be dark (i.e. without the addition of dairy products) and vegetarian unless otherwise noted. All drinks will be prepared with water (as opposed to milk) unless otherwise noted.
First and foremost, we do not have adequate medical training. Therefore, if you have a medical condition or carry medicines/tools with you, please advise us in advance. We do our best to help in whatever way we can. However, we are not responsible for your health. Know your body. Know your requirements. Please, inform us of your issues.
Private Groups: We do offer private club tastings to groups of at least 4 people. Please contact us so we may organize a date for you.
All cancellations must be submitted via email at least 48 hours before the session, otherwise you forfeit payment guaranteed at that point for our staff and hosts.
Therefore, there are no refunds for cancellations. However, if the reservation is cancelled with more than 48 hours written notice, we can re-schedule your booking for a date within one calendar year in which our hosts/session animators are all available to work and the minimum number of guests is already met.
Each of our sessions/tastings requires a minimum number of guests in order to proceed. If you book with us and we do not have the required number of guests, we do reserve the right to cancel your session, wherein your payment will be refunded in full.
